True Crime: What Happened to Patrice Endres?
Patrice Endres was a friendly local hairdresser and Georgia native. Everyone loved her and said she had a warm and vibrant personality. Patrice had a good life, a young son, Pistol whom she adored, and friends and family that thought the world of her. She worked hard to get her cosmetology license and started renting a booth in a local salon. While working in the salon, Patrice met her new husband, Rob Endres. According to friends of Patrice, Rob was possessive and always had to know what Patrice was doing. Around 1996 Patrice had finally saved up and had gotten enough clients that she was able to open her salon that she called Tamber’s Trim ‘N Tan in Forsythe county.
On April 15th, 2004, Patrice went missing leaving behind her son and her new husband. In the Netflix documentary show Unsolved Mysteries, Thirteen Minutes goes on to detail the events leading up to and after Patrice’s disappearance. Little was known about what could have possibly happened to Patrice, aside from strange information that was reported. Some who passed by the salon saw that Patrice’s car was parked at an odd angle from her usual parking spot at the side of her salon. When someone arrived at the salon, it was empty.
When authorities were called, they were of the understanding that between the times of 11:37 and 11:50, something had happened. At 11:37, that was the last time that anyone had heard from Patrice, by 11:50, she had disappeared without a trace. Authorities got to work searching the salon and discovered that there was money missing from the safe, and Patrice’s lunch sat out uneaten. There was no visible sign of any break-in or struggle.
Patrice was missing for 600 days. The remains of a body found in the woods would later be identified to be Patrice. When officials were investigating, they realized that Patrice’s body was left without her wedding ring. The ring was never recovered.
Recently Netflix released unaired clips and interviews from the documentary series detailing how authorities were able to make out the thirteen-minute timeline for Patrice’s disappearance. According to the officers, the events occurred as follows:
At 8:50 am Patrice’s first client of the day, Pam Sheppard, arrives at the salon for her appointment at 9 am. Pam told the authorities that Patrice had seemed distracted and not like her usual attentive self.
11:05 Pam leaves after her appointment
11:10 Client Paul Cantor arrives at the salon for his hair cut
11:27 Paul finishes, pays, and leaves. When investigated, it was found that Paul received a phone call after leaving. Police were able to verify these details with cell phone records.
11:35 Another customer calls to reschedule their appointment with Patrice. This customer tells authorities that Patrice is agitated on the phone, which was quite uncommon for her. The phone call lasted a short two minutes.
11:50 Mitchel, one of the officers, states that based on phone records, Patrice received another phone call at this time, but there was no answer. This was when officials concluded that something had gone wrong.
It is still unknown as to who murdered Patrice. Many suspects that it could have been her husband. There have also been a few false confessions made, such as serial killer Jermy Brian Jones and Gary Michael Hilton being suspected and even confessing to said murder. Jones claimed that he had kidnapped Patrice, then assaulted and killed her, dumping her body in the nearby creek. When investigators dredged the creek, no evidence was found that supported the claim. It was later determined that neither of these men could have killed Patrice.
This still leaves some room for the suspected killer to be Rob Endres as shocking statements from the documentary potentially were made. Rob admits to sleeping with Patrice’s ashes and carrying around her skull after her death. Rob had an obsession with Patrice. Could a fit of jealousy be the potential cause of murder for poor Patrice? Rob was 20 years older than his new wife. Those close to Patrice said that she was unhappy in the marriage and wanted to leave. It was also noted that Rob had a volatile relationship with Patrice’s son Pistol, throwing him out of their house shortly after his mother disappeared. Pistol remains hopeful that someday he will have answers to his mother’s disappearance.
